Yes, it basically emulates the remote display, so it works the same too: even with the software connected, the V1 still has regular audio alerts.

The only circuit that supports muting from software is the homebrew circuit on may page. The ttl2usb option does not suport the mute, however you could modify it to do so.

Ok Jim, here's an unexpected result...

I built the SMD version of the 6-transistor design (found on the ADMS page here) and everything checked out fine, even with the Loopback test app I found on your site. I set S1 to COM1 and it's not even detecting the interface when I go to connect (gives the S1 not connected error after about 1.5 seconds). I tested this interface with and without the 4k resistor and the concealed display w/ line duplexer and still nothing.

Has the 6-transistor design been tested with S1 before? I was under the impression that the ADMS design was pretty much the exact same as the CT29A cable.

I'm thinking that maybe I need to send one of you 1.8 V1 owners one of my interfaces to see if maybe my V1 just isn't working right.

Yeah, to the best of my knowledge, the six-transistor design IS the exact same as the CT-29A. If it passed my loopback tester, then I'm sure you made it correctly. I would be happy to test it with my V1 though. It might be possible that ther is some kind of difference with your V1...

Hey guys, someone asked me a question and it made me think of something else that might be of interest.

I'm sure some of you have seen the "Radar Verifier" software on my webpage. Well, with a PC in the car running "Radar Verifier", and instead of a speaker you use the output to modulate a gunn oscillator, you could do such things as make "radar speed display boards" display any speed you want...getting any ideas here?

An output signal could be triggered by the Valentine through Software One, and would require much less hardware and be more configurable than stand-alone units that do similar things.

I don't want to be a bad influence, however I have long had an interest in this kind of thing simply because of the technical challenge. I've done a lot of experimenting with this in the past too, check out my post w/pictures in this messageboard thread (the one about half way down):

How do I word this; I am lazy and selfish. I would love to make these things for everyone... but i just dont want to. I will do it for like $40 to make me get over my laziness. Please let someone else do it, but i will be your last option.

hy,

Yesterday evening was the second attempt for me to connect the V1 to an old laptop serial equiped...
I've follow the schematics correctly ( first mount needed me 5 hours of meticulous work to put it in a tniy tiny box

) ), and twice I used news parts (DB9 port too )...

My V1 is about 2 years old, it's not the last version with pop mode, but It's already the "small" version...

Each time the same error ;( SoftwareOne not connected.

My TTL2USB seems to have been sent from USA yesterday, so I'll wait to so how it works

)

PS : For those ( with a working unit ) who enjoy wireless connection, you can found BT2DB9 transmitter

Of course that would otherwise be known as a high frequency transmitter...no doubt regulated by the FCC...would probably need a Ham licence in that category to experiment with such a device...

I am pretty sure there are other less nice names for such a transmitter.
