    Snooper????

Don't know if it will work but can any one tell me if I cam hok up my Snooper S6 NEO in the same way? Here in the UK the V1 is pretty much dead as most poeple use the Snooper or the Origin B1/2. The snooper carries an standard modem jack on the side and is updated via the phone line through the inbuilt modem. My idea is to query it through its modem if possible as when you update it it also uploads any user stored points for verification. I want to use this function to send the info to the PC as an info stream an then have it show in the front end.
    I'll get there eventually!

It really depends on the device. You need to see if you can get any information on the communication protocol it uses.

If the modem port is also used (by the manufacturer) for programming it you may be in luck. If not a deeper hack might be called for.

It looks to me that the modem is only used for RECEIVING data (like you could hack it to put in your own camera info to modify the database). I would be suprised if you could get realtime alert info from the modem, but you never know.

You could probably put a device in line between the external Radar/Laser unit and capture signals from that, but that is only part of the functionality.

    Snooper

The modem is used for sending information as well as receiving it. On update it asks if you want to upload data. If you press yes then it sends your personal inputted points to snooper for verification along with all other users. It is this that makes me think it is possible to output through the modem.

    Angry Blown fuse

OK, I just tried to get schematic D working, and I did it all clustered together to fit inside a DB9/RJ11 connector like someone else earlier.

Unfortunately, all it did was blow the cigarette adapter fuse, and the SoftwareOne app kept saying that the port was in use (i even tried changing the port to another number, etc).

Obviously I've done something wrong. Where do I start to troubleshoot this. Also, where can I get additional fuses for the power adapter?

    Thanks!

I checked over all my solder points, and found a semi-loose one on a serial pin. I fixed it up, and tried again with the second fuse.

No luck still... SoftwareOne is saying that there is no V1 found. The device and remote work fine, and are not interfered with like previously.

    Ideas?

kevlar, what version V1 do you have? I have an older 1.7 that doesn't seem to work with the transistor-based interfaces (built all of Jim's designs from A-D, as well as the 6-transistor design, and also tried a CT29A (thanks to tj; btw, I'm almost done with it)). I'm currently waiting on my USBMOD3 to come in (backordered ) to see if that will prove to be a better solution for older V1s.

drait, I have the latest version, I just recently got it from valentine1.com, so I'd imagine 1.8 or newer. How can I check?

Also I'm in the process of testing the circuit on a breadboard just in case my somewhat newbie soldering joints were crappy...

OK, my breadboard WORKS! I'm very excited that this circuits works!

Now, I just need to find a circuit board to make this permanent, hopefully something with the ability to put a db9 onboard.

    Any ideas?
