For laser I don't need line of sight because I have a blinder laser jammer.
For radar reception this location should be good enough.
for rear coverage I use reflective license plate digits..

ok guys.....just wondering if there are any updates on this. For a quick review, if I am looking to buy a V1, what version should I go with?
from what I've read here, 1.7 is not the one to go with.
1.8 seems to work ok, as does 1.8 with POP. Is this correct?
Will any brand new V1 from valentineone.com work?
Who was able to get the circuits with the mute to work?

AFAIK, there shouldn't be any version issues with the usb based adapter that I am working on.
The mute is pretty simple, except you need to be careful about startup and shutdown (car and pc) to make sure you aren't inadvertantly "pushing" the V1's buttons.
Will your adapter work with the 1.7?
I wish I could say for sure that it works, but I have never actually tried it. I have tried as much as possible to be faithful to acting like the V1 concealed display, so it should work with any V1 that supports it.

I've just got a new BMW Series 1 as my corporate vehicle, and I will be travelling a lot in the next months, so ... to be prepared against speedin' tickets I've adopted some countermeasures. Here are some photos of my semi-stealth V1 hard-wired installation. An electronic engineer friend of mine made me the serial interface for use with the Software-One by Jim mitchell (thanx a bunch for your work!!!) and it's working perfectly so far...
I'll post some more photos of the interface as soon as I have the chance to shoot them.
I hope you like it.... the installation is more stealth than it seems, and it's really easy to remove the v1 once you leave the car. From the cop's standpoint (e.g: while asking for your license... ) there's nothing to be seen :rock: So you can drive quite relaxed, not panicking if you happen to be halted by a cop.

Forgive me for my ignorance, but I couldn't bring myself to read all 19 pages. Are you sharing the schematics as well, or are you only selling these? I would love to hook up my 1.7 and it seems like yours is the only one that would work with it.
