I'll post a picture of full installation in my car soon.

You do realize that this is the Worst possible location?

    1. whenever you are driving behind another car all the V1 can see is that cars bumper.
    2. the V1 has two sensors, one in the front, one in the rear, how can the rear seeanything?

the best location is at the top of the windshield so it can see up and over a hill before you car passes over as well as thru other cars windows.

    location

the best location is top I agree. but.
For laser I don't need line of sight because I have a blinder laser jammer.
For radar reception this location should be good enough.
for rear coverage I use reflective license plate digits..

Do any of these solutions work with a 1.7 model?

ok guys.....just wondering if there are any updates on this. For a quick review, if I am looking to buy a V1, what version should I go with?

from what I've read here, 1.7 is not the one to go with.
1.8 seems to work ok, as does 1.8 with POP. Is this correct?

Will any brand new V1 from valentineone.com work?

Who was able to get the circuits with the mute to work?

    Thanks

AFAIK, there shouldn't be any version issues with the usb based adapter that I am working on.

The mute is pretty simple, except you need to be careful about startup and shutdown (car and pc) to make sure you aren't inadvertantly "pushing" the V1's buttons.

I wish I could say for sure that it works, but I have never actually tried it. I have tried as much as possible to be faithful to acting like the V1 concealed display, so it should work with any V1 that supports it.

    Semi-Stealth Installation

    Hi everybody,

I've just got a new BMW Series 1 as my corporate vehicle, and I will be travelling a lot in the next months, so ... to be prepared against speedin' tickets I've adopted some countermeasures. Here are some photos of my semi-stealth V1 hard-wired installation. An electronic engineer friend of mine made me the serial interface for use with the Software-One by Jim mitchell (thanx a bunch for your work!!!) and it's working perfectly so far...

I'll post some more photos of the interface as soon as I have the chance to shoot them.

I hope you like it.... the installation is more stealth than it seems, and it's really easy to remove the v1 once you leave the car. From the cop's standpoint (e.g: while asking for your license... ) there's nothing to be seen So you can drive quite relaxed, not panicking if you happen to be halted by a cop.

    Regards.

    zPilot -

Forgive me for my ignorance, but I couldn't bring myself to read all 19 pages. Are you sharing the schematics as well, or are you only selling these? I would love to hook up my 1.7 and it seems like yours is the only one that would work with it.

How time flies on mp3car.com! The last time I was here, zPilott had just finished making his 1st USB prototype, and now they've made it to full production. Awesome

Not to discount all the hard work you've put into the V1VD zPilott, but can you tell me (or us rather) if it's still designed around the USBMOD3? I had one on order from that place in Australia, but after 5 weeks of backorder, they cancelled my order and refunded me. Since it's no longer bike-friendly weather here in northern CA, I'm spending more time in the cage, and would like to try my hand at making this interface again (the serial versions didn't go over so well w/ my v1.7).

If your design is now (or soon to be) patented, I can fully understand if you'd rather not give out the details.

    Thanks
