I'd LOVE to be able to use this with my Escort!

problem is that with the passport there is no external display like on the v1. this program basically emulates the v1's remote display. the best we could do (probably) is just getting a mute button on the computer. imo, not worth it

The prototype worked perfectly well and even allowed to mute and switch modes by pressing the onscreen mute button of the Softone interface, besides the autohide-automute features are absolutely great.

I've recently started a small car-pc company in my country and more and more customers want radar detection in their cars, so being able to integrate detector and car-pc, and keep the first in a discreet (semi-hidden) position is quite important. Otherwise you may not get fined for speeding but you'll be for using a radar detector (illegal in my country and many others).

The point is that I produced a first batch of 100 units (Scale economics...) of the rj11 to RS232 interface, and still have some available in case someone is interested, the price is rather low and is certified to work 100%. The interface comes enclosed in a black box with a rs232 extension, but could equally work with any rs232 to usb interfacing cable, as long as it is correctly configured (I tried this and worked like a charm )

Should anyone want to further enquire about the adapter just drop me a line....

    Regards...

    Matt.

I am very interested, if it will work with a 1.7...

Red, what I think he is saying is there is no remote display for a passport so there is nothing to emulate. the most you could do would be to mute the unit from the carpc

ahh - yes, I see now.

the whole coding thing is a different world for me, so I have no idea what's possible and what's not

    Hi again,

The interface will work with any V1 version capable of displaying alerts in a concealed display connected to the accesory port of the power adapter. All this Interface does is to carry alert data to a serial port (or usb via adapter) and let Software One software from Jim Mitchell (a.k.a Jimbonzz) interpret that data and show alerts on screen, plus some really useful other features like automute and autominimize window.

You can see the device and application in action in this little video I shot while driving near a group of speed cameras.

    Very cool video!

Is there a way to make it smaller?

The reason I ask is I live in chicago where we can have 3 ramps in a 1/4 mile so if you cant see a screen youll miss your exit.

It would be cool if in the "settings" you can pick window size. 300x500 pixels, 150x250 etc. etc.

    HI...

Not only can you pick the window size, you can resize it at will by dragging any corner of the window. You can even choose whether to keep aspect ratio or not... I can only congratulate Jimbonnz for this excellent piece of software which definitely makes life easier to V1's users. The only thing I miss would be the ability to play a certain user selectable sound (wav or mp3) when approaching a bogey, so I could completely turn down the volume of the V1 and get rid of its annoying beeps and braps.... But anyway the application is perfect for me....

    Regards.

    Just an FYI regarding TTL2USB:

TTL2USB w/ V1 data cable requires the resistor soldered into the data line on the V1 data cable in order to work properly.

And once it's working, the TTL2USB works with both jimbonzzz's SoftwareOne, as well as zPilott's V1VD (however, not at the same time). Based on this, I would imagine that the CT29 serial cable should work with both software packages as well. And conversely, I would imagine that the V1VD hardware would work with both software packages as well.
