I take back the leap-frog car-icon bug. It just did that the first time I ran it. I have ran it 3 times since and all is well... ???
Cool **** David. Thanks for all your great work.
Feedback:
1) Something broke between 1.5.3 and 1.6 so that I now see 2 car icons playing leap-frog.
2) Play back of the Speed-Track seemed to work fine for me (I think), but only position an zoom are saved. Can you have it save tilt & rotate as well? Also there is a car Icon where the KML starts, but it doesn't move (not sure if you can do anything about that).
3) Can you make the save-on-exit optional?
Question: Does this really work for tracking your friends already? Only if you know their IP right? I think we need some kind of server to connect to so you can see who is "on-line" and automatically get their IP (and display them in GooPs). I could be like an IM program where you invite/accept people and anyone on your list is automatically displayed if they are on-line.

Thans for the feedback.
It'll do the leap-frog thing if you have two copies of the "GooPsServers" network link in GE at the same time. GooPs tries to detect if one already exists but I have seen it fail the check and add another link.

Since GooPs is peer-to-peer, you must be able to see the other "vehicle" on the network. For mobile use you would have to have something like a mobile VPN.
I'm currently working on a client/server capability as you suggest. I'm thinking an "instant messaging" type of interface where you could "invite" others to track you, etc. (oh -that's what you said).

The demo works fine, but when i setup my GPS and such it says
"GPS: Waiting..." in the status bar and nothing changes in google earth
I look at my temporary places and see GooPsServers but the icon next to the name is this little ball going back and forth nothing ever happens though..
I'm using google earth plus so maybe thats an issue? I don't know, this looks really cool and I'd like to be able to use it.
I notice that it will go GPS: Connecting.. for a few seconds then go GPS: Waiting.. for a few seconds going back and forth...
My GPS works fine in all other programs...

Sorry your having problems.
What is your interface to the GPS? It sounds like GooPs is successfully opening the COM port, but timing out waiting for data.
I get this if my GPS is turned off or unplugged from the db10 part of my serial port adapter (I'm using a belkin USB/serial port adapter).
Here are a few other things to check:
Is COM port and rate set correctly in GooPs/Options?
Is the rate set correctly on your GPS?
Are there other COM port options that may not be set correctly (you would have to set them in the control panel).
Are there other programs using that COM port? (could even be another instance of GooPs tying it up).
