Have you tried any other GPS programs? (e.g. GPSgate or Earthbridge) They give you more options for controlling the COM port.

I think, my Bluetooth software in general is configured correctly on the laptop. For example, I can synchronize my Palm with the Laptop through Bluetooth (also using the same COM port). Of course I did disable the Palm Hotsync before trying to connect the GPS.

Without looking into this into any depth I recall that when I setup my COM ports to my phone I had to setup two COM's. One for Nokia PC Suite and one for PhoneControl. And when that was done they still could not coexist. I had to deinstall Nokia PC suite.
Maybe you have to add another BT device? A pure COM device. I mean the one you've got might be a special palm type of port?
    Just an idee.

David, your pointer to GPSGate was great. I opened a new virtual COM port in GPSGate and direct the Bluetooth GPS receiver's output to it. Then Goops can read the GPS on the virtual port perfectly!
Thanks to everybody for your tips.

Earlier today I got a tip of XPort3 (** Welcome to CuriousTech) doing the same thing as GPSGate for free.
For some reason or another it connects to internet via dial-up BT modem when I start it up...
    Does anyone know why?

Did you look at Internet Explorer->Tools->Internet Options->Connections?

    Sorry, I was unclear.
    1) No application running, no network present. My dial-up BT phone modem is the only way to get internet connection.
    2) then I start XPort
    3) then I press "sevice" button on XPort

At that point my telephone says "connecting". XPort is sending something or at least connecting to internet via my phone!!!

    Why?!?

You have somewhere in Xport choosed your phone com-port. Thats why xport tries to do stuff with you phone.

    Hej Niklas

Good point, but I don't think it aplies.
I use COM5 and 6 but the BT devices are at COM21 or so.
But I will check when I get home, and also try without any COM's.

I take it you use it and haven't had any problems?

    Cheers

    Tjenare.

No problems for me. I have had some problems with Xport trying to communicate with my phone but that was because i had selected one of my phone com-ports.
