That is very strange. I'll post this on the forum to see if anyone else is having this problem. GooPs doesn't require .net. It's just vanilla MFC.
The options dialog should look like this:

    GPS reciever heading

at stop, my gps reciever doesnt always keep the correct heading. apparently this is a common issue (multiple recievers for me, similar posts by others). using "track to course" results in senseless "spinning" at stops, since the heading is wrong.

Being able to swith to "track to heading" when slowing to a stop should maintain the same (correct) heading. Maybe trigger it to switch when the speed drops below 3mph. better yet, tie it to deceleration, so it only activates when actually stopping, track to course could then still be selected when driving at 3mph, but would switch to track to heading when you slow to ~0mph.

I think this problem is due to GooPs using the registry incorrectly. For now you need to be an administrator for GooPs to run correctly.

I have been playing around with the program for a few days... It's amazing!! thanks davidhite! I will soon be adding a GPS with DR that will hopefully eliminate all the "screen spin when stopped" problems. the only thing I would really like to have is to be able to add custom icons. And if you could implement RPM's idea of changing icons according to speed it would be PERFECT! any idea on what's going on with that transparency problem and the icons? now if we could finish that GE skin that would make the whole project really worth using! Theas are suggestions not complaints! The program is amazing already!

By the way I have this small problem. Some times GooPs does not see the gps, it sais GPS: waiting and nothing happens...!? all other programs work fine. I am using GPS Gate to split my gps signal to meny ports.
Will never be DONE! There is always something to add

    Thanks for the feedback spaceskater.

I'll be releasing a version in the next couple of days that should give you all the flexibility you need to adjust zoom, tilt, and icons based on speed.

I thought the transparency problem was a SKINbedder issue.

I'm not sure why goops doesn't see your GPS sometimes. I tried to design it to be robust. If it loses the connection it just closes it and tries again. Can you give me more details?
Does it happen when you first start GooPs?
Does it connect successfully and then lose the connection?
Will it reconnect if you press the connect button, or do you have to restart GooPs?
Are any other programs using that port?

    Thanks again.

The semi-transparent problem (at the edges of the SKIN where it meets the map) is a SKINbedder problem. The picture of my car with a white box around it is a GooPs problem that is not present in nemaGE.

Good news! All the buttons on the right side of the skin work now! . I will be releasing a new SKINbedder .exe with a more-working GE skin soon. It will probably still be another month or so before I have SbV3 final done (which will fix the semi-transparent problem by using layered windows for all the skin graphics).

Released GooPs Version 1.5.2 Beta with Enhanced AutoZoom Configuration

    1.5.2 - 2/17/06

    Removed AutoZoom exaggeration factor.

Incorporated AutoZoom configuration table so you can tailor AutoZoom to your own preferences.
The AutoZoom configuration table allows you to control the range, tilt, and cursor icon based on your current speed.

To define your own AutoZoom configuration table: (this is a little complicated, if you mess it up you can just delete the file and GooPs will use defaults)
    • Create a file called autozoom.cfg in the directory GooPs is running from
    • Enter lines/rows as follows:
    • Each line/row in the file designates a speed in mph, a range in feet, a tilt in degrees, and a path to an image file – separated by commas.
    • The speed is the minimum speed for which this row’s factors will be applied
    • The factors will be applied until the current speed reaches the speed designated in the following row.
    • A negative range or tilt factor will cause the factor to be applied absolutely for given row.
    • A positive range or tilt factor will cause the factor to be adjusted between this row’s factor and the next row’s factor based on current speed.
    For example the following table:

    0,-1000,-80,c:\src\goopsv1.5\test\mycar1.png
    5,800,70,c:\src\goopsv1.5\test\mycar2.png
    20,3000,50,c:\src\goopsv1.5\test\mycar3.png
    50,3000,45
    Will produce this behavior:

From 0 to 5 mph – range will be 1000 ft, tilt will be 80 degrees, mycar1.png will be displayed at the current position

From 5 to 20 mph – range will increase linearly from 800 to 3000 ft based on current speed, tilt will decrease linearly from 70 to 50 degrees based on current speed, mycar2.png will be displayes at the current position

From 20 to 50 mph – range will be 3000 ft, tilt will decrease linearly from 50 to 45 degrees, mycar3.png will be displayed at the current position

Above 50 mph – range will increase from 3000 to infinity base on current speed, tilt will be 45 degrees, the GooPs 3D cursor will be displayed at the current position
The AutoZoom configuration table is reparsed with each update so you can experiment with different settings in real-time while running the demo.

Changed/added shortcuts for main window items –
    • ctl-t – tracking on
    • alt-t – tracking off
    • ctl-alt-t – toggle tracking
    • ctl-u – heading up on
    • alt-u – heading up off
    • ctl-alt-u – toggle heading up
    • clt-z – AutoZoom on
    • alt-z – AutoZoom off
    • ctl-alt-z – toggle AutoZoom
    • ctl-p – pause
    • alt-p - continue
    • ctl—alt-p – toggle pause/continue
    • ctl-m – force tracking selection to self (host=localhost)

im liking the release schedule of this, features are implemented almost as mentioned. much appreciated.
simple suggestion, add a Save button next to Pause, seems like most of the functionality of Pause (especially with autozoom) is to save a track, so why not create a button/shortcut to 'pause, save, unpause'.

also, the release notes on your site lists "1.5.1 - 2/17/06" for the recent update, should read "1.5.2 2/17/06".
