    Sorry Jasin,
I missed it in the rules where I am to respond to others with a ****y tone, As you missed the part where I said "I'm new to this"

But as you did point out I did miss the 6.5" Lcd, to bad, 7" is so much nicer. What Res and color count?

As for double din, I only saw where he asked what people wanted, either a 4 1/4" or 4" unit, people seem to want a 4" one but I may have missed it again if he said for sure what he ended up going with.

As for that site, maybe he should talk to them, they seem to have the same thing.

    zute,

It will be a 6.5" 800x480 LCD panel. This is the only LCD panel out there with this resolution that would fit in the double-din chassis, which is 7" wide by 4" tall. I did take a look @ that site. They have a similar product, and I did shoot them an email. They too have an interesting project.

Guys - I was thinking .... if there is space left after the unit is together how about adding an inipendant powered USB hub in the rear. A lot of us have hubs and this may cut down on the wiring ?

Also - not sure if its possible but if you do put a USB socket in the frount how about a little rubber insert to hide it when not in use ( sorry really bad discription ). If a potential theif saw a USB port he may be tempeted to have a go - with an insert its not 100% but its less likley to be noticed as not an OEM unit.

    Just a thought.

    Jasin,

That's only IF we can find them somewhere. No luck yet, I'm starting to look for other options.

In addition to that problem, the USB jack itself will be too tall to fit into the upper right of the bezel. I'm trying to think of a way around this. I may have no choice other than using a Mini-USB port, in which case you'd have to use an adapter cable because most devices are the standard sized USB connector.

This USB Audio controller is for the non-car-pc people (the masses) without amplifier in the trunk.
    FMode,

Do you have a USB audio controller that you are familiar with? I'm looking for a solution to integrate into this product.

I'd like a USB system with 3-5 Stereo line INPUT pairs, that all will show up in the Windows volume mixer. These inputs will be for the external AV in on the back of the unit, as well as for the internal FM radio module. I'm having difficulties finding a good solution. I'm thinking a USB to AC97 converter, and then one of Via's AC97 audio chips would work. But I cannot find a USB->AC97 chip. Then there is USB to I2S, and some I2S ADC's. But the USB->I2S chip I found requires some special firmware and programming (TUSB3200).

    Ideas?

Mrbmw99 - I'd look at the Creative external cards - they are prooven already to work well and have excellent Windows support out of the box how ever I'm not sure if you'll be able to get an OEM solution ( eg just the PCB ).....

Can I suggest that if you're going to use a mini-USB port on the front that you provide an adapter cable (mini-USB male to normal USB female) with the unit? I for one would be prepared to pay the extra couple of dollars on the retail price to cover this!

    Thanks,

    Andy

Thanks Brett, someone gave me your site, the double-din you have up now, does the rom drive you have able to make CD's as well as read dvd's? Are you still selling that one too?

Your new design, will the radio look like the one you have now or will it be able to work with-in the skins like the HQCT does?

    Zute,

The DL065A's only come with a CD/DVD drive. No CD-RW. We will be out of stock on those for a while.

It will be USB driven, so yes the frontends will control it directly.
