through in some windex, and maybe it will :-P
Hello,
No solid word on the prototype yet - thanks to our wonderful US Postal Service. One of the items we have been waiting for somehow got sent on a plane to Hawaii (even though it was addressed to California), according to USPS's tracking website. It should be here within a few days though.
As far as the waiting list goes: A few weeks back, we launched a new management tool nicknamed DMS. We imported everybody from the original waitinglist into the new DMS. If you signed up on the original list, there is no need to sign up again. The only exception to this is if you didn't receive an email from the DMS with your login information, or don't see a waitinglist entry in your account. If this is the case, send me your information and we will check into it.
You are able to log into dms.carputertechnologies.com, and view each of your waitinglist entries, download firmware for your CT650 Series monitor, and more over time as we expand the software.
The DMS website has been down for several days because we have been upgrading the server hardware that it was running on. We hit a snag in the process, but most of it is running fine now (even though it's not public to the internet quite yet). It should be online pretty quickly.
Does this clear everything up?

Yeah that clears everything up for me even without the windex.

This was why I didn't receive the original email ....but OK now... thanks Brett
That's pretty interesting! Hopefully you've been able to sort everything out and get your mail sever back online.
Info for everyone:
The DMS site is still down. We paused the sever upgrade for the time being because we're in the process of testing the latest revision of the boards that just came in. We should know where we stand on the design by the end of this coming week. So far, everything is working fine. :-D We should have waited to start on the DMS server until after we tested this round of boards. Murphy's law I guess...

Brett, FYI, I'm not a dodgy dude! I work in the broadcast segment and have no professional link with car audio - it's just a hobby of mine![]()
For everyone's information - we're still testing the prototype. Things are going well so far. The DMS is also back online.

Well, seeing as the SDK has been released, I've pumped out a library that should allow developers to control the thing under linux. Of course, without a device to test with... I don't really know if it works. But, if any developers want to poke around at it, this is how I at least intend for the interface to work.
Basically, it features the following:
(1) A daemon to allow for asynchronous events (button pushes, input line changes, etc)
(2) A library that handles connections to the daemon (daemon handles multiple connections from multiple clients, if that makes sense for your application)
(3) Written entirely in C
The daemon features the following:
(1) user-definable polling rate, which defaults to 250 ms (4 times per second)
(2) setuid and setgid if you don't want to run the daemon with root privileges (make sure your device node is accessible by that user)
(3) logs to syslog under the daemon facility, and allows user-definable log levels to report
API documentation can be generated by running doxygen Doxyfile from the main source tree (provided you have doxygen installed).
Sources are temporarily stored here (subversion repository)... I'm considering opening up a sourceforge project to take it from there.
The licensing for this is BSD, meaning you're free to do whatever you want with it
Also, note that carputer tech has made no statement that they will support this library - it's a user community project. Given that the screen hasn't been released yet, it's almost guaranteed not to work immediately after release. Use at your own risk.
UPDATE:
After quite a hassle this time around, the prototype is running pretty smoothly. The interference problem that was mentioned before has been solved. At this point we still have several combinations of input resolutions and output methods to test, as well as write the bulk of the release firmware, but all is going well now! I'll continue to update as progress is made!
