Thread: W3bTracker - GPS Tracking & Secure Location Marking (also offering Mologogo tracking)

dear god man... yet another new version...

I tried the almost newest version some today and Im having some problems right away... I've set it up to use Com9 in Xport and it shows that it's connected there and the data stream, but in the tracker software I don't get any data shown and the log file is empty when I open it up...

The second thing is that I made a shortcut in my startup folder so that it's always on when I start to drive (or someone else that want to take my car for a drive ) but it seems like it sometimes is having problems starting up!

Going to download and try the newest version and see if there's any difference!

It seems as I'm getting an "object error" with the new XPort. I can't remember what the error exactly said but I'll check again tomorrow if you need me to. I still had the old W3bTrack folder so I went back to using the older XPort and it's working fine now.

The error seemed to appear when trying to upload live tracking. This is happening on the version you uploaded yesterday. Haven't downloaded the new one so I'll try that and see what happens.

Also on the server side of this the date seems to be ahead one for me and I can't see the time or altitude. I don't know if this is on you or google. Once again thanks!

Yeah just let me know what the errors are so I can track them down. I've been running this on my system for a while and haven't encountered any... so I need the different setups / results to catch any remaining bugs lol.

I did notice the time wasn't working... resolved that today and I"m about to upload that fixed version... not sure about the altitude. That should be working... but I'll give it another look.

If you think XPort is the cause you can always drop the one from the W3bTrack folder... just copy the two XPort* files over...

OK here are some errors I got from ver. 2.1.0.0 & the new 2.1.0.1.

This first error is the one I got yesterday. This was while running ver. 2.1.0.0.
I was able to fix this by running an older version of XPort. I used ver. 1.0.0.7 instead of the included 1.0.1.0.


These next 4 errors are from 2.1.0.1. I just downloaded and tested it.

The first time I ran it I started live tracking, the program status changed to "Live GPS Tracking" after a couple seconds the program status changed back to "Ready" and then the error popped up.


I opened it back up and then tried live tracking again. The same thing happened, status changed to tracking then back to ready and another error, but a different one this time.


I repeated the process again a few more times and the same thing would happen over and over, but with a different error each time.

Here are the other ones I got.




I would like to note though that a couple of times the program was able to succesfully upload a few points before an error would pop-up. Also one of the last times I ran it I got no error but the status had change from live track to ready after uploading the first point. The last upload time would change every 30 seconds as set but I wasn't sure if it was really uploading.

Upped Another New Version... 2.1.0.2 Those errors are all related to the same bit of code. Made an adjustment that should hopefully help.. let me know.

The errors mentioned above should be fixed, and the data transmission to the server should be faster and more reliable.

Do NOT use the new tracker url for older versions, or vice versa. IT WON'T work. Nuf Said. lol.

Not really... The program was pretty much designed with me using Xport3 to split the gps data and I haven't had any issues pulling the data. You can try adjusting your BAUD rate in the config.ini file. Default is 4800, but you can try 9600 as well. Hopefully this new version and these tips will work out for you Let me know... Cheers

/edit : and as retarded as this sounds... try another port through XPort3 as well if the tips above don't work for you... for some reason, messing with other programs, I've had 1 port on XPort3 not work/send data, but others would... not sure why... but... it's worth a shot..
