I still havn't got it to connect to the GPS though, Tried changing the com port today but still no connection as it seems!

as I said earlier I can see the gps data in xport and the radiobutton infront of the tracker com is marked so it's clearly connected to xport...

is there some kind of debugging mode that I can enable, maybe that might reveal whats stopping it from getting the coords!

have you tried changing the baud rate in the config.ini file? it's set at 4800 default which should work for most, but some will need to set it at 9600.

okidoki.. I'll go and boot it up and try this, weird though since all the other gps softwares is running fine in 4800 but I'll give it a try...
edit this one in a while when I tried it!

    [EDIT]
Well it still doesn't work, not with 9600 or 38400, still the same...
Added a picture so that u can see how it looks!

btw, would it be hard adding a "upload" button on the page so that it would be possible to just move the log to a USB stick and upload it at the home computer?

It may not make a difference, but have you tried w/ the latest version of Xport3? Grab it HERE.

oh and ummm... might want Cheekz to chip in about this since he said he had the same problem, but you have 9600 in the config.ini file and 4800 in Xport... I'm not sure if he just changed just the config.ini or both...

As far as the upload button. Do you mean on the server or in the program. Cuz the program now gives you the ability to select a previously saved log file and upload it. If on the server.. lol it shouldn't be too hard, just haven't gotten to it yet

IM gonna chip in... DO me a favor...IN Xport change the baud rate to 38400.... then open up the config file for the w3btack and set it to 38400.... it should work.... if it doesnt work i see that in xport u have 2 8 7 and 9(ports) for xport. Open one of those ports in hyper terminal and tell me if u get any data! if you get data then it is ur com port!

Hey guys... I'm working on a GPSTrackingLog.txt upload feature for the server (that side is mostly done), but I'm having to rewrite a small portion of the program, no big deal really... so I should have everything up soon. To use the upload feature you'll need data from the new version I release. I'll keep you posted... Later...

    oh and thanks Cheekz

    EDIT:

    -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- VERSION 2.1.0.7 -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
    July 15, 2007

    2.1.0.7 has been uploaded.
Ability to upload log to server, from the website, has now been added. A change in the datalog code was required, so this only works with the version 2.1.0.7 and newer of W3bTracker.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys!

I downloaded the new xport and tried changing the baud rate in that one to 38400 and the same in w3btracker config but it still didn't work... then I noticed that whenever I set a baudrate above 4800 it doesn't give me the correct gps data in xport, just some weird letters and numbers...

is it my gps reciever thats not good enough or something?

Well if your other programs are getting data, it seems your receiver should be fine... I'm just not sure what else to have you check. I've run it on my old and new receivers for days on end w/ no problems. Well aside from this morning when fooling with sheeeet and couldn't even get the program to open up... but I quickly figured out what I bungled...

but back to the problem... it's hard to figure it out when I can't replicate it... umm I'm gonna shoot you a pm.

Would you happen to have iguidance? If you do, without using xport or any gps splitter do an auto find for a gps com port. When you do that and it finds the com port, it will tell you the baud rate it needs to be set at. The baud rate listed should be the rate xport should be at!

Would you happen to now how to use any remote desktop software? I can try and help you via a remote desktop application!

Anytime Steve... Quick question! With the upload feature on the program...It doesnt work for me! I have set the app to save data to log and i myself tried to upload it to the server via the application. IT freezes the app. BUT I have not been able to test the last 2 version...been kinda busy! I will install v7 today. Maybe u fixed it...

Also, I noticed that you could have track to log and live tracking enabled at once. But it doesnt save the coordinates, it uploads them all. Live tracking kinda overrides the track to log and wipes out all points. So would it be possible to have both live tracking and track to log enabled. BUT when they are both enabled, have the coordinates saved into that log and break the logs up by date?

    Thanks,

    James
