Trying to use voices on Win 2k Pro, using Mappoint 2004 Europe. The map loads and the SatNav correctly locates my position, then I always immediately get a Program Error box with the following error message:

"Voices.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created."

I cannot locate an error log anywhere. Any ideas anyone?

Not sure - how can I find out? Not installed it separately, not sure if its installed by default with W2K.

@SilentAdmirer - Another bug connected to the 'Retry' Server Busy message when calculating long routes. Sometimes it also pops up many boxes with 'Unspecified Error'.

@SilentAdmirer - have you thought about a 'debug' mode that writes a log that we could send you?

@ telstargb : I don't think its available on W2k by defalt you need to download it from Microsoft site. to confirm it you can check the control panel if there is a speech applet
@Steve : I did send you a PM regarding it. I have made a seperate build for you to check.I did try to solve the problem but cannot test it on my PC as I never got this error in the first place.

    Regards

I've played around with VOICES for a couple of days and have encountered this problem numerous times. I'll be on the road following the planned route, but Mappoint will show me just off the road. I'll get a rerouting local road message numerous times. Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity of the rerouting? It seems that Mappoint 2002 isn't as accurate as it should be. When I turn on the road that I live on it takes it about 20 seconds before it realizes that I'm on the road rather than an imaginary local road. Overall, I really like the program and the turn by turn voice directions work better than Destinator and occur at the perfect time!
    Thanks-
    Rick

I'm using MapPoint 2004 and don't have that problem (except on Motorways) the GPS is accurate down to side of the road, and on normal roads re-routes perfectly; for example on a dual carriageway going the wrong direction it sends me up to the next place to turn round rather than just pointing me back the other way. Destinator however seems to 'lock' you onto the nearest road. Perhaps your GPS is badly positioned? I have mine mounted on my roof.

I have to agree the turn by turn is perfect, I noticed the other day that if your going fast it tells you earlier! I tried Destinator the other day for the first time and it is no where near as good as VOICES, it gave me the directions much too late and I had to rely on looking at the screen rather than listening to directions!
