Now for something really different...?

if you have a hatchback, where do you put your subs?

in a box behind the back seats?

thats where mine are. one box, 2 subs, and a 5 channel amp on the top. one nice complete package.

one that ruins the entire idea behind having a "psuedo-sationwagon-thing" where I can fold down the back seats to make a nice deck for, i dont know, big tubs of industrial mayo, tires, mattress? but w/e it'd be nice to not have my box take up the center of this folded down space.

ive always wanted to move my subs to custom enclosures within the side-walls of the back of the matrix.

there is probably 2-4 inches worth of space between that piece of plastic and the outer wall of the car. even more in some places a little more to the back.

ive only seen custom enclosure how-to's on spare tire wells, and molded boxes. but nothing exactly like this, so im sort of stumped as to how to begin.

should I remove the plastic piece, but only after ive attached, say, foam sticks to the back of the plastic that in various places give me a general contour of the metal outer wall of the car? (i have to wonder how id have access to do this without already cutting the speaker hole prematurely)

seeing as how if i create a custom enclosure with the plastic away from the car, that the tolerances would be quite small because placing the plastic/enclosure piece back into place, the back of the enclosure must either rest upon (with foam or something to isolate vibrations, somewhat) or be a little be away from the outer wall.

so maybe, you can see my problem(s)?
