this is kinda ambitious, but really it's the easy way out for me
I see a lot of definite advantages,
total & complete solution for all software/hardware out of the box, no questions it just works ....
just feed this from one (tube maybe

) usb dac using asio driver, done.... the PC just spits out raw unaltered unprocessed bit perfect sound, no excessive load to the host PC at all... don't need any drivers even but the asio...
all control is on the PC though & is integrated into one program & is a professionally designed pro studio system that's integrated by dbx directly into there hardware..... every adjustment is a module & a separate pop open window that can be dragged into a rack.... the skinning possibilities with roadrunner & this are pretty sweet... when I call up eq 1 could pull up 4 31 band eq's at a time, cycle through, well you get the drift, Lotta room to play there
just playing with the software this is so cool, you can adjust & manipulate every aspect of everything.... multiple notch filters in any order filter... it's just so cool
the reliability & stability of this compared to a PC is another huge plus for this design....
the core2duo laptop with the hardware that would have been the alternative to this make the cost of this negligible really.... comparing the 2 at around the same price just made this choice so obvious to me for myself
overall this is a guaranteed drop in awsome system to begin with, all configured & working properly it is definitely the easiest way to get what I really want.... & the tuning, man, I can tune to my hearts content, all on professional studio equipment, man this is going to be sweet
the only drawback I do see is I was kinda looking forward to being one of the firsts to do a real competition system on the PC alone, but bottom line is that would have been a longer up hill battle with more than likely less overall results..... I've got enough of those in my life right now, & easy guaranteed just sounds so good to me right now
in the end all I want is a kick *** system all controlled through the pc, this should be a great start
I will still follow the PC based threads though, & I'm sure I'll do another system somewhere with that soon enough too.... I,ve got 2 other builds coming up soon that could wind up that way....
I got an email from the auction wife, she's going to relay to her husband.... hope I really get this unit at what it's supposed to be... if not, they can be had for under $2,000 anyway used.... I gotta have one of these
