Actually it has a dedicated headphone output feature in the driver control panel. It locks the output for better use for headphones. I have a pair of Sony MDR-V700 DJ headphones that can accept up to 3W and they are plenty loud. I can't even tell a difference between this card and an Audigy with 2V output as far as volume goes.

I hope you can find one of these cards, since they are difficult to locate. The are available from a European/German website.
