HUH? What layered wood is NOT plywood? Layered wood IS exactly what plywood means. Plywood is made from layering long sheets of wood veneer. The strenght is acheived by alternating the direction of grain of each sheet. Unlike MDF where the strength is acheived by compression of fibers and density. Anyway, MDF makes a slightly better choice for your project because of density and reflexive properties. However, plywood will work too providing that
a. Its not regular grade douglas fir, spruce or pine.
b. It is larger than 1/2".
Material? Fleece. Use it. Its cheap and available in huge sheets at walmart. One piece for smooth, easy transitioning. Pull it down to the bottom and staple and glue it to the bottom. Unless you fear that one day one of your buddies is going to climb into the Blazer, flip the box upside down, look at the unfinished bottom and laugh at you, then don't sweat it. Good luck.
