It will also still come with the trial of Destinator like the current versions with the test maps...
So SE will still be packaged with Destinator

Which will work fine provided we already have maps?!?
IMO for people to even want to build a carpc they have to be able to make a significant saving over other options.
Now if the PC & Screen is going to cost anything up to £500 depending on where you buy it, Windows is likely to be £100. Another £170 for CF, Add a few other bits and all of a sudden you have something which costs a shed load of money, has no guarantees it will all work, and you have to fab and fit your self...
When you can go out and buy hardware which will work out of the bag, is easily transfered between cars, has better GPS software, plays movies and MP3, will read OBD ports, and provide mobile internet etc. And because these new PNA & PDA devices are beginning to be given the higher functions such as MP3 and internet they are going to prove more popular.
Your future market for CF is hardly likely to flurish when you charge more than most peoples OS costs!
It also slashes the number of people who will get involved in selling CarPC's because now over half their retail price is likely to be swallowed up paying software licenses, pushing their prices up, increasing the likelyhood that people are just put off at the outset due to high prices.
****ing greedy gits a destinator need to rethink what they charge. There is no way I'd pay anything like the cost of TomTom for something far inferior and less effective, not to mention nowhere near as nice looking or easy to use!
Would you not rather sell 10,000 copies at £100 than struggle to sell 1,000 copies at £170, my point is lower price to increase sales volume. Ultimately you will make far more money IMO.
We all know how hard you have worked on CF, and it shows, but come on, STOP LETTING THESE PRICKS A DESTINATOR SET YOUR PRICES! What do we get from Dest. anyway? Little support, no answers to email, failed SDK promises, slow updates, outdated maps and buggy software! How great they are
So, again, how much discount are beta tester likely to receive???
