lights dim? depends on the car, I have installed large systems on some cars and the charging system kept up, I have installed small amps on some, and "dimming" as you would call it, but like I said a cap is a band aid, if your charging system is up to par, your lights wont dim, the amps are getting sufficient amperage, now if you have a bad charging system, or you simply demand to much, lights begin to dim, adding a cap, is just hiding a problem that needs to be fixed, yes they can be used with success, but like I said it all depends on the car, how much amperage will be drawn, how reserve amperage your charging system has, and so forth. Be smart about it and upgrade alternator! i have seen cars with systems so underpowered, even with caps, the lights dimmed bad, a cap can only cover so much overhead/overdraw.
and i have used the infinity reference 7541a to power a set of Kappa's once, using an alpine deck with 3 way active crossover, it performed VERY well. i have noting bad to say about it, but if your buying new, just get the matching alpine PDX, i dont have much knowledge on that amp, like i said i installed one, it sounded nice, never heard from guy again.
