From TabletTech's post it appears that Program Files\Streetdeck\Maps is the correct default path so my previous suggestion is probably useless.

Another possibility is that the MapPoint registry keys were created with another user's logon credentials than is currently being used. This could happen if you installed SD or Streets & Trips with one account and now use another to logon.

MapPoint.exe used to have a /regserver command line option to add the current user credentials. I don't know if this is still in MP '04/'06 but worth a try.

Try running \Program Files\Streetdeck\Map\mappoint.exe /regserver from a command prompt or the Run option in the Start menu.

If that doesn't work, another possibility is that the .Net runtime environment is incorrect. This might explain why MapPoint can be run from the cmd line as a standalone but SD errors out trying to access it.

If this is the case you could try uninstalling SD and the .Net Framework, reboot and check the registry for the Software\Microsoft\MapPoint key. If it's there delete it entirely, and reboot. Delete the SD directory trees in Program Files and My Documents, and reinstall .Net Framework again and then SD.
