i guess you guys didnt catch that i had it hooked up to the wrong ignition wire. the one i had it hooked to registered 12 during cranking only. what the PS needs is the ignition that stays at 12 when the key is in the on position. when i switched the wires, the **** booted up right away. so, that problem is solved.
as for the pink stuff, i did run into one situation with it... when i screwed the MB tight to the case (and it pressed firmly against the pink stuff), it would no longer boot. as soon as i loosened the screws and there was no pressure on the pink stuff, it booted fine. im thinking the pink stuff was conducting some electricity to where it shouldnt go, stopping the mb from starting for some reason. luckily nothing was destroyed or burned. runs fine now, no prob.
and for the PS, i do have spacers. the red/blue/yellow plastic connectors that you use for car wires... i chopped off the plastic ends of a yellow one and used it as a kind of spacer. i put the screws thru that and it gives it a 1/2 inch space below.
