Im no expert so take this for what its worth to you.
Most companies exist for the purpose of making a profit. Companies (no matter how big or small) invest more time and resources in creating a product or service than might be apparent to the consumer.
I dont know the specifics regarding Flux Media's size or number of investors, business partners, and general operating costs. But I can assume that the people involved in creating Centrafuse have a reasonable expectation to get a return on their investment.
As far as having a higher initial price is concerened.. Many entertainment products are more expensive when they are first introduced. Look at DVD players and flat panel monitors. RAM, Hard drives, Graphics cards, CPUs... They all drop in price over time. Its not some evil plan to screw everyone, its just business.
Its in everyones best interest that Flux Media is successful with Centrafuse. If they dont make any money the level of support will be sparce, improvements to the software will be sporatic if any at all. I would be more ticked off if I bought the product and they went out of business than if I bought it and they lowered the price.
If Flux is successful with this, other investors may see this and move to create their own product to get a piece of the pie. With that competition you could possibly see even more choices and lower prices.
I can understand where you are coming from. I see the the situation from the consumer perspective, but I can also see it on a more global perspective.
