Do you have another computer to try it on? Are you trying to install it through a hub? Is your computer USB 2.0 capable?

And if your battery doesn't have enough juice, then yes it could be the problem. Also USB is very picky. If it is a real cheap battery or a battery that is not putting out 9v and closer to 7v or so, then that could be the problem. The board needs a minimum of 7v to function properly. If you battery is going between 9v and 6.9, it wont work.

If you dont have a wall transformer for it, use the +12v line from your computer. (The yellow molex).
