Software based screen orientation... help!

Im in the process of installing a tallscreen portrait style lcd panel and am trying to configure the software to support it. On my home pc I run a nvidia card which comes with screen rotation inbuilt. Via does not come with this, so I tried a program called iRotate v1.32 this says it supports "VIA Unichrome and newer". I run a VIA MII-12000. This software doesn’t seem to be working with my via onboard video card, im thinking my video card doesn’t support rotation at all.

So is there any windows hack anyone knows to get around this problem? Do I even need to change windows res at all, can I just get away with running a 600x800 front end skin? Will that work? Is there a front end that supports rotation like this inbuilt?
