Unexplained sound problem
Hey guys, yet another problem. This all started about 2 weeks ago. I come outside to get a loud buzzing static sound from my front speakers. I wiggle the wires a bit and everything is fine until another few days and them the same sound. So I plug the front speakers out from the sound card and just have the rear and sub hooked up. Thinking its just a bad port on the sound card, I decide to pick one of those 2 to 1 headphone adapters from Radio Shack. In the middle of this I realize that not only is the sound coming from that bad port but also the other port now so all speakers sound bad. And then, the same thing happenes to the sub woofer; its not the same exact sound but a low static buzzing but on the same level.
My first thought was that my amp went bad, but the sub and speakers arent conneceted to the same amp but getting the same buzzing sound.
I took my Ipod as well as a laptop to the car hooked the headphone out to the sub and it worked flawlessly. Did the same thing with the speakers hooked up to the amp and no sound at all (not sure if this is normal or not) but when I did hooked these back up to the sound card I got the same static.
I also tried swapping out sound cards and even tried using the onboard sound. So that makes 3 different sound cards ive tested.
Im thinking something that connects the the soundcard to the motherboard got screwed up somehow and is causing this. Also, can someone explain why I get no sound from the subwoofer when hooked up to the laptop and and ipod but nothing from the speakers, not even static.
Sorry for the length of this and thanks in advance for the help.
