I think you misunderstood the above.
It's not that most of us don't want to spend the money (in this case $40/month). It's that we've done the calculation in our own heads and determined that, IN OUR CASE, we don't get enough use out of the internet on a day to day basis to justify the expense. For instance, MAYBE once or so a week, as I drive my cab around, I have both tthe time and the need to look something up/check my mail. I use my wireless sitting in front of a hotel in Downtown...A place I spend most of my time in anyway.
Your contention is that rather than doing this, I should go out & spend the $40/month for that one google-search per week? Perhaps for yourself. Perhaps you use the internet enough to justify the cost. But for me the cost/benefit ratio is just too high.
I'd think there are a lot of people who'd agree.
