If you are afraid to void your warranty then use an old PC you don't really care about. If you want to use a lilliput In-dash you'll be taking it apart anyway most likely. Running wires through the car is fairly easy, and you shouldn't have to hook anything directly to the car battery. How were you going to power your lilliput?

This isn't really that hard, it just requires LOTS of planning.
