I got a quote on my 15.4" wxga and got priced $110 for a brightness increase to 500nit and $490 for a transflective enhancement. These prices do not include shipping costs and take no longer then 2 weeks for both upgrades. With a smaller screen the brightness and price may differ.

Also don't take a DIY ultrabright LCD out of the picture. I have purchased everything I need to finish mine and it hasn't gone over $800US in total and includes touchscreen.
