Hey everyone! I have all my stuff together and I am assembaling it now for bench testing.
Some questions came up.
1. I notice that on the m2-atx psu that it has jumpers and they set it to do differant things. The book as a suggested setting of putting the jumper on B which states 5sec/2hours.
So does this mean it will start 5 seconds after the key is on, and go into hibernation 2 hours after the car is off?
2. Can I put a toggle switch in the main powerline to the carputer, so that on really cold mornings, I can turn it to off before I put my key in, so that it doesnt try to spin up?
I would rather wait till the car is warm on fridged mornings and THEN flip the switch and let it boot. Is that possible? Seems like it should be.
1) It will turn on a few seconds after the ignition turns on. Then when the ignition turns off, it will wait 5 seconds, and then "press" the power button. If you have the power button set to hibernate in windows, then it will hibernate in 5 seconds. If you have it set to Standby then it will go into standby in 5 seconds. Then after 2 hours, it will "pull the plug". So if it is in hibernate, nothing much will happen. But if it is in standby, then you will need a cold boot next time you start.
2) Yup. Put a switch that has a ON-OFF-ON configuration. Solder 1 ON to ignition source, and the other ON to a constant source. So if it is on the ON ignition source, it will boot up normally. If it is on the ON constant source, it will always be on (need to run an update in the garage or something). If it is in the middle (OFF mode), then it will never turn on (cold mornings as you suggest).
