sorry to go OT, but the basics of it are........thin sheet metal vs big thick walls.........nice big cube vs funny tiny space.........
the principle acoustic issue is that soundwavess hit stuff and reflect (in a cars case, all over the shop and in no order due to it being a funny shape and TINY) or create sympathetic resonance (making the thing they hit become a speaker, in a cars case, very easily even if you stick half an inch of sound deadening pads on every surface) - both of these are going to happen a LOT more than in a room.
those are just in a drop of an ocean of problems you get with car audiom then theres the phase issues with sticking loads of speakers in your car (more than 2 + sub), bass traps, acoustic floors, i could go on.
