I finally gave in and bought an M2-ATX power supply, just before I moved, so I had the PC out of the car to haul stuff in the back (love hatchbacks). I finally installed it last month and after a lot of soldering connections I got it working properly. Then it quit working (the logic switching stopped working due to J8 polarity issue) and I had to RMA it. When i got it back, I forgot the M2-ATX was mounted too close to the case side rails and I shorted it all out with the case cover. Crispy. Fried my motherboard too apparently.
After all this work, I figured I'd suck up the cost and keep at it... A new motherboard with CPU, a new M2-ATX and also got a Visteon HD kit and Mitch's adapter cable for Valentine's day.

Figure that's about $120 in repairs and $40 in upgrades. Sigh, damned shoestring budget.
So, now it's a 1.2GHz Mobile Duron on a PCChips M863G board sitting on my desk. I was smart this time and put my media files, RoadRunner, and WinXP on separate partitions. I reinstalled RR, LSX Void 3.2 and DigitalFX 2.0... damn, LSX is now 190MB?! 190?! It seems to work OK though, not too slow, and looks good, few bugs and I'm accustomed to it and its customizable buttons, so... I'll keep it.
I can't find any power consumption specs on the Duron Mobile 1.2GHz. The 950Mhz is supposed to be around 30W, which is good, better than my old Duron 850 even. I'll have to measure current draw with this new system once it's in the car.
