I got everything up and running and decided to test it in my car. Well, it wouldn't install for some reason so I decided I had to upgrade SD to 1.1.1.6 - BAD IDEA!!! My CarPC is completely dead now, and I have no more strength left in me to fix it. I HATE this hobby. I wish SD would give out their PDBs to people who can debug, but that's another story... anyway.

Here is the alpha of this thing (it works ok on my desktop on 1.1.1.6, everything else - you're on your own ).

Here is what you'll need:
Make sure you have .NET framework 2.0 installed (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en) on both your home and CAR PCs

Download the client app (http://vulfson.com/carpc/TrafficClient.zip). Unzip it to it's own folder and run the .exe. The idea is that when you insert a removable storage (i.e. USB key) it will auto download the traffic data onto it. So insert and select a drive you want to use. Select the metro area (let me know if more metro are needed). You can click More and adjust/see what it will download. Click download. If all goes well, you should see traffic.dat on your pen drive (it's actually a .zip file, so you can crack it open and see that if looks complete).

Now, download the digimod (http://vulfson.com/carpc/LiveTraffic.sdz). Install in SD. Restart SD. Now, whenever you insert the pen drive with traffic data it will automatically apply it, as long as the traffic data is no more than 90mins old. I recommend that you exit Navigation module when you insert the pendrive.

Ok, sorry for the super convoluted steps, I will make it better. But I know you guys are getting restless so I wanted to post something. There are many many things that far from perfect, like:

In the client some settings don't persist
Only upto zoom 14 data is downloaded (you may have to zoom out to see traffic data)
If you are in the Nav Module while copying data from the pen drive things may not copy correctly..

Let me know what you think, and if you want to come by and fix my damn SD installation!

Thanks for releasing it, even if it isn't perfect!

Looking forward to trying this, but my graphics card is slipping out of its PCI slot every time that I go over a big bump in the road (live rear axle Mustang and the PC is mounted in the trunk over the axle...really can't complain too much as I doubt that situation was in the PCI design specs).

Good luck with the SD installation! Hope you can solve the issue yourself, as it doesn't seem likely that you'll be getting any offical support in the near future. ;-(
