The way I see it is that you guys (truckers) need map/navigation data with specific information.
Considering that all the front-ends are all using off-the-shelf consumer-oriented map data, it really can't be modified much.
Sure you can add POIs for scales, rest areas, favorite truck stops and the like. But the weight limits, road widths and low bridges that you need to know about in order to drive your truck safely... Those are difficult to add into the map data, if not impossible.
