Yeah, the humidity around here is almost non-existent.

And I like that. I stayed a week in Florida, man that was hard to get used to. It was like getting hit in the face with a wet towel every time I stepped outside.
Know the feeling I lived there for 10 years. Humidity was terrible. Sad thing is the humidity can get just as bad here.
Maybe you could make a "box" that controls your HVAC, but hooks up to your computer. That way on short trips, or if the computer is down, you can still use the HVAC controls.
