I have the Magellan Sportrak also. The Mapsend Topo program lets you upload detailed map data into the handheld GPS's memory. Without this, you're limited to the builtin maps. If you are connecting the GPS to a PC or laptop, you can use the GPS as the receiver and any GPS software like Steet Atlas or Copilot for detailed mapping. This is really the way to go if you intend to use the GPS in your car. That and the tiny display make a handheld GPS not good for car navigation. That's why I also bought an Earthmate.
