I have to agree with most of what alien8 is saying.. to buy a DC-DC power supply is a waste of money.. just get an inverter... who cares if you're going dc-ac-dc?? It works, and its efficient.. if you wanna be cool and make you're own.. fine.. thats up to you..
As for a tape adapter.. even if you have a really high quality deck and tape adapter, there is still that damn hiss that comes outa your tweeters.. if you want a really good quality sound then get a head deck with AUX input.. in my system you can't tell the difference between CD's and the MP3's..
As for not using a network card.. It is faster if you have a disk caddy.. but there's nothing wrong with network cards..
