good choice! You may want to mount it vertically to save wear on your hard disk. Once i take some pictures of my setup I'll post them up. I have a Pundit box mounted to my sub box. It is spaced a few inches away and also has foam around the mounting brackets for shock resistance.

actually, you *NEED* to mount it vertically. once good hard bump on the harddisk from a speed bump or pothole can take out a partion, some data, or the whole drive. I learned my lesson the hard way and always mount the harddrive on its side.
as always, make sure you have backups of your data, esp with that large of a drive.
