i recommend
ultraVNC because it's fast and free.
as far as networking the computers together. i would go with wireless all the way around. the most you would need is a few wifi cards and a router/WAP. the least you would need is 3 wifi cards... one for each computer, so they could connect directly to each other in 'ad hoc' mode.

i don't have much experience with wifi yet. hopefully somebody here can help you with more details. but, i can say that you should go with a good brand, not just the cheapest. places like

www.pricewatch.com usually have decent prices on brand name components.
the W2K pen drivers are easy to find. go here
