paradox: Well both the factory radio and the factory navigation screen that go in that area are black stock. Unfortunately, if I painted it silver, it would look like silver paint. That silver on the dash is not just painted plastic. It's actually brushed aluminum metal, which has it's ups and downs -- upside is that it looks and feels awesome; downside is that it's impossible to match with paint, and it picks up dirt/grease from your hands really bad on the door handles, but I finally figured out how to clean it -- Wheel cleaner!

BMW used to have a dash finish called "Matte Chrome" that was painted/dyed plastic that was possible to match with paint. A fellow on bimmerforums.com modded an 8" LCD (non carpc) like this and it turned out awesome.. the advantage of matte chrome!
