Wow, I just looked back a little in the thread and discovered that you're the fellow that suggested line drivers in the first place. And now your telling me that they will be useless.

I was not thinking of using line drivers at all. I have a small pc case and one available pci slot. That means one slot on the back of the case also. However thats all the room i've got. So, if a sound card requires a pci slot and an exposed drive bay which is what I perceive the audigy to require in order to use the S/PDIF optical connection, that wont work for me. I dont know where you got the idea of line drivers in conjunction with S/PDIF, who gave you that idea?
