I've got a manual transmission. Would the remote reverse trigger work for this (or anything similar, should I decide to install a reverse camera)? Would it splice AV2 into the backup lights or something?

Yes remote trigger will work with manual. The reverse trigger will work with any car whose back-up lights light up when you shift into reverse. (That's every car. The mirror comes with a wire that is dedicated to the reverse light (so you would have to splice the the reverse light wire to this remote trigger wire) and when it senses a signal from it it switches sources automatically without you having to (ie. backup camera).
