This is not so hard to understand, but as usual everyone wants to try to screw the cell phone companies. Most people who say they've been charged or "told not to use it" use and abuse it. Here are the scenarious:
1) Old(er) 2G phone with "Wireless Web" - Charged for usage. (This always worked with #777, even 3-4 years ago, but got expensive.)
2) New 3G phone with no Vision - Charged for usage.
3) New 3G phone with "Unlimited Vision" - Usage is unlimited, but with limits. Yes this doesn't make sense, but argue all you want, you can't win. Most people don't get bothered by it, some who use it a LOT have gotten a letter or a call saying it is against the agreement. Read that section of the agreement which is pasted at the bottom of this post. If you think your phone will replace a cable modem or any other form of Internet access you are a dumbass. It IS against the agreement, and they reserve the right to take your service away. Period.
4) New 3G phone with "Limited Vision" - These are crippled Vision plans and I don't know much about them. If they say you have Unlimited Vision, you fall under (3). Period. Anyone who signed up for Vision right when it came out got grandfathered into this. If you signed up recently, you MAY have a crippled plan, but you should know about it. This would give you like 5MB a month or something of that nature. Then you get charged per usage.
Anything else you hear is just FUD. Yes they sell you on this point, yes they will tell you you can, yes you can BUT within limits. Here is the clause from the agreement:
Sprint PCS Vision. Not avai'l where use is in connection with server devices or host computer applications, other systems that drive continuous heavy traffic or data sessions, or as substitutes for private lines or frame relay connections. Sprint PCS Vision Packs are not avai'l: (1) with any other device used in connection with a computer or PDA - including phones, smart phones or other devices used with connection kits or similar phone-to-computer/PDA accessories; and (2) with Bluetooth Vision capable PCS Phones used as a modem in connection with other devices. Sprint reserves the right to deny or to terminate service without notice for any misuse. Credits for premium services do not carry forward and are not avai'l for use with all services.
