Your welcome ! hope this truely helps !!!

1.) yea you can get 3.3v from the ATX power supply but you'd have to tap into a wire.

2.) If your using a garmin 15l then keep in mind you can use a 5v as well so if you have an internal USB connection you can use that or even a floppy connector.

3.) I didn't solder to the mobo, you never want to "permanatly connect" things with this hobby no matter how confident you are.

4.) I baught these little wire connectors that basically splice into the wire and has a jacket that goes over the metal pin on the com port. anyone know the technical term for this, wish I knew the name of the part...

5.) Look into the OEM GPS Garmin 15L WIRED version from www.gpscity.com that will minimize the soldering. This little guy wasnt available when I started doing this but boy do I wish it was !!!
