people used 848x480 because it is the closest standard widescreen resolution to the Lilliput/Xenarc's... 800x600 is very stretched and a completly different aspect ratio... Lilliput/Xenarc's are a 15:9 ratio, which is pretty close to 16:9 (848x480)... Of course 800x600 is a standard 4:3...
