Pre-Release Thread: Frodo XM Service
This thread is intended to tell you about what I am about to release,
the cost, what you get, and why this is important.
I have made a new product, which I call the "Frodo XM Service",
It also comes with an example client app, and dll, the "Frodo XM Client"
The service runs all the time, and keeps information current. Developers
no longer have to deal with the backend, only the front end portion of
XM. This will allow front end developers, or hobbyist to add XM support
into their apps without embedding troubles, as it will all be native to their
app. The client app handles everything but XM itself.
The cost for the service app is $10, and that is paid for by the users.
Users shouldn't mind too much though, as the user can use several apps
with the service. For instance, I am releasing (all free I might add):
3 widgets for XM (soon) (Konfabulator, Kapsules, dotWidget)
FrodoXMMeedio (soon)
And a new version of FrodoSatellite RadioX using the service.
This along with netsuo pledging support for native XM in NMC using
the service.
The app handles hibernate and resume, and also has a simple emulation
mode for those developers without XM, so they can still develop apps and
test.
I will be adding Sirius support in the future as well, which will be a
$5 upgrade if you already have a license for the Frodo XM service.
(Or $10 standalone)
Example how this works:
User buys Frodo XM Service.
Now user can use any apps based off this service.
Devs base interfaces off of the client dll.
The service, does have a trial mode, unregistered versions
will work for 15 minutes at a time, and then exit.
Emulation mode does not carry this limit
So any questions ?
