It wasn't COD.....it's UPS raping us Canucks with brokerage fees. When merchandise crosses the border, Canada Customs charges duties and taxes on the value of the item. UPS takes it upon themselves to pay this for the reciever, and then demands that you pay them the duties and taxes PLUS a service charge (or brokerage) for doing so, or you don't get your package. That's why, when i ship from the states, i ask for USPS with a tracking number and insurance. Postal mail isn't as fast or reliable, but at least when it shows up i know that the charges i will incur are the duties and taxes on the item value converted to Canadian funds, plus $5 for the brokerage. Plus, if you insure your package, which usually isn't really expensive, even if it takes 3 weeks, you know you aren't gunna be out a big chunk of cash if it's lost/broken/etc.

And in all honesty, you shouldn't have had to pay any duty, as i'm pretty sure anything that is considered computer parts is duty free. You'd still need to pay the taxes on the item value converted to Canadian funds however.
