Which chipset does it use? I think the one I have uses the SirfStarIII and I can have pretty much anywhere in the car and get a lock, so if it's a new/good one I'm sure it would get a lock, only thing is the signal will be a little weaker so you'd use the lock more easily if going under trees, heavy cloud/rain, etc....
