That is EXACTLY what I am afraid of Rob!! I know that the guy who installed the alarm put top of the line equipment in it because he was the buyer for a national audio chain. But I haven't been able to find technical specs on the alarm since it hasn't been made since the early nineties.
Oh well. I haven't heard back from the company who might be able to replace the unit either. I was hoping that the unique alarm code corresponds to the serial number or something so that it can be replaced, but that might be a bit unrealistic. If I don't get any definitive answers in the next couple of days I'll just disconnect the car battery and hope that works. If not then the unit is going to have to come out and I am guessing it won't be pretty.............
