Also, I have approximately no idea whatsoever about how to do some of its really fancy tricks - transformed video previews, real-time floor reflections, and for that matter taking the initial screenshot that the whole thing then zooms out from. It's not -impossible- per se, but it would be at least until this summer that I'd have enough time to learn everything that'd be needed to recreate Front Row.

I don't want to recreate front row. for what it does, it does it very well. my idea is to creat another program that you could toggle back and forth between with another button on our current control system. you could incorperate the functions needed into this program that are beneficial to car users.
the only things i can really think of off the top of my head for examples would be. xm radio, bluetooth phone support, internet browsing and email. these could be the four componets of "back row" lol (things you're not supposed to do in the front row) sorry

anyway. since the current application is always on top you could add another layer. have the four icons for these functions mimic that of front row.Because they would be another layer of the current application, whatever you are doing in front row would not altered by what you are doing in the layer extension. meaning you could still have your music playing while you are looking at your email.

I'm not a programmer so if what i'm saying doesn't make since or isn't possible let me down easy.

The programming for xm radio is already availible in almost the same language as our project. mac xm was a source forge project and was written in Cocoa ( a subsidiary of Objective C).Here Not to make light of the work but it seems like it would be a small re-write and more of a redisgn in the GUI.

I do not wish to make little of the work, just wondering how much it would be, and if it was possible at all.
