Hey everyone, i was actually in on this type of project for a while as well and had been researching it thoroughly. My Axim X5 wouldn't take a certian DLL i had, so i was forced to pretty much wait till i got my hands on another pda, my x50 mid with built in wifi.
Now i'm ready to rock, and my CF wifi card now can go into my laptop

. I don't know if you read the reviews, but my x5 WAS my carputer for a while. It works decently enough.
TO use the PDA as a remote display, like one of those Viewsonic Airpanel tablets, its best to have wifi. BT is just too slow and was meant to be a calbe replacement for USB and stuff, not like wifi which was meant to do networks (but you know that). I'm sure that maybe we could do a netmeeting type deal, like back in the day they had where you could generally control a desktop over 56K, but wtih todays graphics, and the possibility of desiring movie playback off the carputer, there's a good chance that you may opt for wifi. Wifi makes hard mapping a bit better to handle than BT, esp with the vidoes.
to help you out if you need, it,
